Water & Sanitation Project.... Groundwork.
Sites were surveyed to see the appropriateness (rock type, etc.) for the drilling of a future borehole. Villagers were questioned to understand their water issues, and to grasp their understanding of water and disease.
Bala(The Microbiologist) helps a villagers fill out the survey form... where do you collect water? do you treat it? what kinds of diseases have you suffered from in the last 6 months? do you collect rain water? how long does it last? how long do you travel to collect water? ETC.
Bala, Kenny and Peter share their findings and discuss the work to be done in the villages...
Upon entering a village, our team meets with the tribe chief (leader) to tell him of our intention with our water sanitation project, to recieve his blessing and permission to speak with his people...
Kenny (Geologist) sets up the geological surveying equipment, showing the team how he measures the rock types below the surface with an electric current... He will set up 2 points in 4 different villages, each taking about anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, to complete.
